Jennifer Lawrence

Rolling stone magazine has called her "the most talented young actress in America" and it is hard not to agree. Thanks to her role in the film Winter's Bone, Lawrence was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar at the age of 20 (the second youngest ever). And thanks  to Hunger games, the 22-year-old actress holds the record as the most successful action heroine of all time. None of this came without effort. Detrminated to become an actress, Lawrence graduated from High school two years earlt, and persuaded her poarents to take her in New York in search of an agent. Now one of the hottest actress in America, hse has the rare ability to move between roles in serious dramas and in action films. Probably the only other actress who does that is Angelina Jolie, the actress lawrence has jut replaced as the star of a new historical drama, Serena, out in October 2013.

Revolution (Tv series)

This is the new series by the talented J.J. Abrams. It is set in a post-apocalyptic world, 15 years after an unknown phenomenon disable electricity on the planet, taking people back to a world of swords, horses, warlords and... no internet! As usual with Abrams, the idea is interesting, but the heroine lack of charisma can be annoying, as can the many inconsistencies in the story's development.
Yet the mystery is intriguing and there are enough great sword fights and efficient cliffhangers to make the series a hit in the States. Will you become a fan?

New shark-proof nets protect swimmers in South Africa

After five Great White shark attacks in the past year in South Africa's Western Cape, officials have developed super strong nets to protect swimmers and surfers.
Millions of tourists visit the Cape Town area every year and thousands of US dollars have been sent to trial the world's first environmentally friendly shark barrier.
They're designed to protect swimmers, whilst not hurting the sharks, and they're even removed every night.
600 sharks are killed there every year because they're caught up in nets designed to catch them. What makes these different is that they act as barriers - not traps.

RSPB says marine spill is 'one of the worst in decades'

Almost 3,000 seabirds have now been affected by a chemical spill off the south coast of England earlier this year.

The RSPB say the spill of a chemical known as PIB (polyisobutene) is 'one of the worst UK marine pollution incidents in decades'.

PIB is used in ships' engines to help them run more efficiently and it's currently legal to dump it in the water under certain conditions.

But the chemical sticks to birds feathers and makes it hard for them to feed and fly.

New figures released by the charity show almost 2,500 birds have died and at least 500 have been rescued since February.

Animal welfare groups are now calling for the dumping of PIB at sea to be banned.

Cangaroo or Wallaby?

Officers heard about a kangaroo crossing a the road while they were running a rural crime operation in the area at the weekend.
Police were shown a photo of the animal but were not convinced it was real at first.
They are now investigating where the animal was from and who owned it.
A police spokesman said there were suggestions that the animal was not a kangaroo, but a wallaby, which may have escaped from a nearby farm.

Kangeroo or wallaby?

• Kangaroos and wallabies are marsupials which are closely related, though adult kangaroos are larger than wallabies.
• They can be identified from their teeth, which are different as kangaroos mainly eat grass while wallabies mostly eat leaves.
• They are native to Australia but been introduced in the UK in parks, zoos and farms.
